The holidays can be a difficult time of year and some families will find this holiday season especially hard due to the impact of COVID-19. Recognizing this, Northern Commerce has teamed up with London’s notable hip-hop artist and Fanshawe graduate Left Lane (Jordan Lindo) and Roots to raise $10,000 to support 100 local families over the holidays.
This year has presented many challenges to our community, both financially and emotionally, This initiative is about ensuring that those who are less fortunate, are still able to experience a moment of joy this holiday season.
All funds raised will go towards gifts for the children of local families residing in Limberlost, Boullee, Pond Mills, and Allan Rush Affordable Housing Communities. Northern has launched the campaign with an initial donation of $5,000, while Roots has committed to contributing an assortment of winter gear for the 100 local families.
Given the state of the economy this year, it is going to be even harder for lower-income families to provide for their household during the holidays, By coming together as a community, we are able to help the children of these families experience the joy and magic of the holidays that they otherwise may be missing.
Northern and Left Lane will be delivering toys and holiday cheer to residents of London and Middlesex Community Housing neighbourhoods on December 20th. “This has been a hard year and COVID has made things particularly challenging for many families this holiday season. We are excited and thankful to work with such a supportive community to help us empower resilient families,” says Tim Smuck, Manager, Community Engagement at London Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH).
