December 13, 2023, London, ON – TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario, along with their esteemed Board of Directors, announced Michael Schmalz, former President of Digital Extremes, one of the industry’s top game development studios, as the recipient of TechAlliance’s Limitless Visionary Award.  

Celebrating the exemplary achievements, unwavering dedication and pioneering innovations of a trailblazer in the tech industry, the inaugural Visionary Award will be presented at Limitless celebration on January 18, 2024, at 100 Kellogg Lane, London, ON.  

With decades of leadership in the digital media sector and interactive entertainment industry, Michael Schmalz focused his attention on innovating gaming. Under his guidance, Digital Extremes grew to a billion-dollar global company, that has a progressive studio culture of positivity and high performance, working on high profile games such as the Bioshock franchise, the Unreal franchise and the Halo franchise as well as developing several of its own successful IPs. During his tenure as the President at Digital Extremes, Michael also ensured profitability by leveraging tax incentives, and has been an active advocate for the scaling video game industry in Ontario.
