Entrepreneur 1.0 is TechAlliance’s answer to guiding entrepreneurs through the key issues surrounding planning for the success of a start-up or early-stage knowledge-based company. In this annual ten-week course, participants acquire the practical tools and knowledge to manage business challenges and develop the support network that every entrepreneur needs.
Course modules are offered once a week and are taught by a combination of Ivey faculty, professional service providers and seasoned local entrepreneurs.
Founders & Funders is an annual invitation-only event organized by TechAlliance and the Southwestern Ontario Angel Group, connecting high-potential tech companies from across the region with investors and funders.
This biennial favourite provides an opportunity to develop effective pitch techniques for potential clients, investors, partners and the media, while competing for business acceleration resources. Presenting yourself effectively is an essential tool in the business arena and this program invites you to represent your company and share your pitch that can spell the difference between success and missed opportunities.
The initiative is made up of three parts: a workshop where you learn the fundamentals of crafting a pitch; the competition, where you are provided with valuable feedback on your pitch from a panel of esteemed judges; and the Awards Celebration and Community Mixer where the winners are announced and prize packages awarded. The MaRS Entrepreneur’s Toolkit is an online collection of tools and resources for entrepreneurs, including articles, workbooks, and a funding directory.
Based on the content in the workbooks, MaRS developed a series of workshops that introduce resources and activities to aid entrepreneurs in specific areas of business growth. Throughout the year, TechAlliance offers these group workshops facilitated by MaRS educators where participants work with peers to think through and design essential components of their business.

TechAlliance Office Hours provides companies with the opportunity to pose questions to experts who are part of our Service Provider Network at no-cost. Sessions provide access to experts in fields such as law, intellectual property, accounting, marketing, and other common business challenges via short one-on-one sessions.
