How do science, technology and the trades relate to careers in today’s labour market?

On Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Agriplex (Western Fairgrounds) TechAlliance and many local technology companies will be participating in SLOME 2011 (Skills London Oxford Middlesex Elgin). SLOME 2011, one of Southwestern Ontario’s premier youth career exploration days, is an independent not-for-profit project of The Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board, which partners youth and business.

TechAlliance is proud to be involved with this great event and looks forward to representing the technology sector along with members rtraction, Big Blue Bubble, Fanshawe College IT, Voices.com, Digital Extremes, 3M and the Sanofi Aventis Biotalent Challenge. Each organization will be engaging students with interactive displays that will give a peek into the many exciting careers opportunities in tech.

SLOME 2011, with the help of over 20 volunteers, 25 sponsors, more than 49 interactive activities and 250 exhibitor representatives, works hard to spark curiosity. It enables youth to sample careers they may not have considered before and gives them an opportunity to experience the transferable skills required in today’s job market and how science, technology and the trades relates to careers.

"Interacting with these students is a great way to showcase possible future career paths and is an excellent way to promote London’s vibrant tech sector," notes TechAlliance President and CEO Marilyn Sinclair.
