It may be commonplace to see graffiti in a city’s core areas, but what about a mural that was actually purchased by a company as a way to show their understanding and support of the community they do business in? That’s exactly what Echidna Solutions Corp. has done at the rear of their downtown office space. When founder Andrew McClenaghan opened the new location for his web-solution business in 2008, he decided to follow the old adage of “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” “I figured the odds of getting the back of our building tagged were pretty good, so rather than fight it, decided to have a local graffiti artist do a mural and embrace the culture in which we were setting up space.”
It’s this type of community-minded thinking that helps drive Echidna’s corporate philanthropy program, one that includes a community fund with the London Community Foundation and reduced-cost services for non-profits and charities.
